That way they can continue with the Selene & Michael (and now their daughter) story.instead of writing most likely some thin dialog explaining how they still haven't found him or he died or some BS like that. Grab the lead Antony Starr from Banshee, he looks like Speedmen, he is a convincing badass, he is most likely available (Banshee wrapped as a series) and was fantastic in his physicality on Banshee (fighting, gun play, etc). How are they going to write that he isn't in this one? I am not a huge fan of recasting but I'll be completely honest, I'd love it if Michael was re-cast so he'd be in the movie. Selene concludes with her determination to reunite with Michael and take back the world from the humans and lycans. I mean this is the ending of the most recent movie:

I would be pumped for this movie if Scott Speedman was back, his character and his relationship with Selene is pretty critical to the movie franchise, especially with him being the father to their daughter and still being alive. It was a lot cooler and sexier when they the underworld. However I am expecting the story and quality to be nearer to the most recent movie than the first, especially after they time jumped and now the entire world knows about Vampires and Werewolves, and there has been a war against them. The only reason I will watch this movie is Kate Beckinsale, who is fantastic as Selene, fantastic in that outfit with guns and such, and is a perfect vampire. I loved the first Underworld, I enjoyed the sequel, I really enjoyed the prequel, and I didn't really enjoy the most recent one. Rounding out the film’s stellar international cast are: James Faulkner (“Game of Thrones”), Peter Andersson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), newcomer Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James (A&E’s upcoming “Damien”) and Daisy Head (the upcoming Fallen). The Underworld Saga marches on in the continuing war between vampires and lycans, and it’s looking like the darkest installment of the franchise to date (if that’s even possible in such a grim-looking world).Since the initial release of the trailer for Underworld: Blood Wars, a fresh look at one of the epic fight scenes has been released to expectant audiences everywhere. British actors Tobias Menzies (“Outlander”, “Rome”) and Lara Pulver (“Sherlock”) take on the respective roles of a formidable new Lycan leader and a fiercely ambitious Vampire, and Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”) again plays Vampire elder Thomas. Theo James (The Divergent Series) returns as Selene’s ally David, reprising the role he played in Underworld: Awakening.
Underworld Blood Wars is scheduled to open in theaters on October 14, 2016. Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment announced today that Underworld Blood Wars will be the name for the fifth installment of the series, which features Kate Beckinsale returning as Selene.
